El Salvador

This month Vitamin Angels worked with Pediatricians for Central America’s Children to distribute multivitamins and prenatal vitamins in the villages of Mira Flores, El Mozate and San Villanueva. Pediatricians for Central America’s Children began in response to hurricane Mitch in 1998 and is working to enhance the health of children in El Salvador through medical care, public health projects and support of in-country clinics and physicians.

Honduras

This month Vitamin Angels along with Aidmatrix assisted Orphan Outreach and WaYfm with a vitamin distribution in Honduras. 2,500 bottles of multivitamins were distributed in Nueva Suyapa and the surrounding communities. More than 1,700 children received a year’s supply of supplements. In addition to vitamin distributions, Orphan Outreach is working to enroll the Honduran children in school, where they will receive a quality education, two nutritious meals a day, and the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.

MaGiSTir Birthday Celebration

Robin Howe Mcilrath, of the Santa Barbara-based band Magistir, held a birthday celebration concert to benefit Vitamin Angels on July 25 at the Montecito Country Club. Many local attendees and Vitamin Angels staff members danced the night away while spreading awareness of vitamin deficiency in our local community and encouraging support.

Newport Summit T-Shirt Fundraiser

Kirsten Miller and Rachel Sandnes wanted to get involved with Vitamin Angels after seeing our Operation 20/20 video and saw this years New Port Summit as the perfect opportunity to raise money! The girls designed a Vitamin Angels t-shirt and found an organic t-shirt manufacturer. The shirts were a huge success and we want to thank Kirsten and Rachel for all their hard work and support.

Snikiddy Snacks Partners with Vitamin Angels

Vitamin Angels is proud to be partnering with Snikiddy Snacks, a line of organic food products designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle for children. Every time you buy a bag, a portion of the proceeds goes to support Vitamin Angels’ Operation 20/20. Phil Lemert of the Today Show rated the new Mac and Cheese Puffs 95 out of 100.

Thanks to everyone who supported our work this month!

Amy Summers and Pitch Publicity for creating our booth at the Summit, Jeff Hilton for helping create and distribute VA invitations, Robert Orr, Elliott Balbert and Steve Allen for mentioning Vitamin Angels at the Summit awards ceremony, and Marshall Karp, advertising guru and copy genius. Dear Friends,

Jones Soda has been generously contributing to Vitamin Angels through a promotion with their 24C special packs for Sam’s Club. Our logo is on the packaging, and they have even put us on the inside of the bottle caps with special 'fortunes’ to let their customers know what an impact their donations are making. Last week we realized that one 'fortune’ had a much greater impact than any of us could have imagined. The following is the letter Jones received from one of their customers:

Dear Jones, My wife and I have four children and have been in process to adopt a special needs girl from China for two years. We received her referral last Thursday and finalized all of the additional paper work on Friday. She has a congenital eye disorder that will need some care and surgery once we bring her to the U.S. in a couple of months. The day after we finalized her paper work we found ourselves drinking a Jones Soda with our family. My daughter noticed the caps had "fortunes" on them. My wife's was the "you saved a child's eyesight" cap. There was much shock and many happy tears. Thank you, Karl

We are inspired by the efforts of so many to make an impact on children’s lives.

Best,

Howard Schiffer,
President
